The production, based on Robert Tressell’s classic book, is a professional version performed by Fine Time Fontayne and Neil Gore, directed by Louise Townsend.
They portray a year in the life of a group of painters and decorators renovating a large house for Mayor Sweater.

Hide AdThe performance is packed with comic routines worked around paint, plaster and, entertaining songs from the music hall tradition.
David French, one of the village hall organisers, said: “My father was a painter and decorator and my memories of working with him in the 1960s strongly echo parts of the book. Reading it as a teenager was inspirational.
“Finetime Fontayne’s previous shows at Eathorpe have been exceptional, and I can’t wait to see what he will do with this.”
