A YOUNG band from Rugby have ambitions to make it all the way to the top - but first they want to conquer the local music scene.

The Absolutes, a four-piece group from Dunchurch, have been busy playing gigs in pubs across the Rugby area in recent months.

The band have been playing together for over two years after meeting as pupils at Ashlawn School.

They play their own brand of Indie music influenced by such groups as Oasis and The Arctic Monkeys.

Singer Johnny Shelton said: "Our ultimate ambition is be the best band in the world but that can wait for a little while!

"We've been playing in pubs locally most weekends for quite a while now and that's been a great experience for us.

"Song writing is something that I personally enjoy and it's kind of in my blood as my mum has written poems that have been published.

"At the moment we're enjoying it and plan to record some more tracks pretty soon which hopefully we'll put on an EP."

The band were previously known as all0neword but decided to change their name after fearing that it sounded like another group's.

Johnny added: "We thought the name sounded too much like an X Factor type band especially after One True Voice started up.

"So we decided to change to something that sounded like a proper band name that we can feel proud of.

"We're all 18 but plan on sticking around in Rugby for a while yet so the next few years could well be an exciting time for us."
