A MAGICAL display of dance, drama and song will be performed in Rugby next month.

That's the promise of Christine Anderson, who is preparing her theatre school for its 33rd annual production.

The Hillmorton-based group will be performing Magic Happens at Rugby Theatre in Henry Street from December 4 - 6.

The show is billed as a spectacular combination of musical theatre, dance and visual effects.

Christine, the school's principal, said audiences can expect a 'magical spectacle'.

"This year we'll be performing scenes from well known shows such as The Little Mermaid, Hairspray and Legally Blonde," she said.

"It's going to be a magical spectacle and we'll be making lots of use of colour. For instance we'll be singing Mellow Yellow and Back to Black.

"It'll be a mixture of what the students have learned throughout the year and everybody's looking forward to it."

The group has over 100 students aged between five and 23 who learn a mixture of theatrical arts.

The pupils have also been busy in recent months sandwiching rehearsals for the production in among their exams.

Christine added: "It's been a case of all systems go for everyone in recent months but even so the rehearsals have gone smoothly.

"I can't believe that it's the 33rd show that we've put on. It only seems like five minutes ago that I was arranging our very first one.

"But the standard of the performances has certainly increased over the
years and is now verging on professional."

Performances start at 7.30pm each night with an additional 3pm matinee on Saturday.

Tickets can be bought from the theatre's box office on (01788) 541234.
