In the run-up to this year’s event, which takes place on Sunday July 17 and will include 5k and 10k distances, personal trainer Allison Harding is offering people free coaching to help them prepare for it.
Allison, who works for the Stratford-based Zig Zag Women’s Fitness and Motivation weigh loss programme, said: “5k can be a challenging distance if you are not prepared.

She suggested training up to three times a week, starting off with a mixture of jogging and walking, and doing body weight strength exercises as well.
Anyone who registers for the Race for Life can attend a free training and nutrition week with Zig Zag.
