Loft Theatre in Leamington to present world premier of audio play
Set in London in 1720, Bubble Fever focuses on the UK’s first stock market crash - the infamous South Sea Bubble. The Bubble is viewed through the eyes of the famous eighteenth century writer, Daniel Defoe - author of Robinson Crusoe.
Much of the play is based on the writings of Defoe.
Defoe wrote many pamphlets, journals and political tracts. Interestingly, Defoe also wrote a lot about the plague at the time, and the resonances between health and economic crises are frighteningly relevant in our modern world.

Hide AdSue Moore, Artistic Director at the Loft said: “I am delighted that the theatre can continue to present original work during its closure.
"Audio productions offer the listener the chance to create their own images of the characters and locations from their imagination.
"Other similar productions will follow until we can welcome our audiences back again in the summer.”
