Time to find missing Coronation Clock
The council appears to have lost, mislaid or removed without trace the Coronation Clock that was erected in Victoria Park in1954.
Barbara Goulden’s recent question (Courier, Nostalgia) as to its whereabouts seems to have met with a stoney if not embarrassed silence from the council.
Lost without trace after only 58 years!

I believe that had to be painted over as it did not meet with our town planners’ approval.
Was it the offspring of the same town planners that recently objected to the redecoration ot the Queen Victoria pub in High Street?
I wonder whether or not Queen Victoria’s statue would have survived if the council had been successful in its proposal to demolish the Town Hall some decades ago?

You get the impression that it is something of an embarrassment.
So it would appear that our Council are luke warm at best to anything ‘royal’.
Perhaps it is an appropriate time for Her Majesty’s representative, the Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire, to get involved and in particular to ask of the council, ‘what have you done with the Coronation Clock that was erected in honour of our reigning monarch?’- Nigel Briggs, Amroth Mews, Royal Leamington Spa.
