Two men killed in horrific head-on collision after pensioner drove wrong way down the M1
Two men aged 87 and 27 were killed in a horrific head-on collision after the pensioner drove the wrong way down the M1 motorway in the early hours of today (Monday).
The elderly driver of the blue Mazda Premacy is believed to have been driving the wrong way along the carriageway before he smashed into a white Ford Transit van at 2.20am.

Hide AdHe died at the scene of the crash along with a 27-year-old man who was a passenger in the van.
The M1 southbound remains closed between junction 25 (Nottingham/Derby) and 24 (East Midlands Airport/Loughborough) this afternoon.
A spokesman for Highways England said: “Police investigation work and recovery is now complete and our contractors are on scene to carry out any necessary emergency repairs to the damaged road surface.
“The carriageway is not expected to open until later today.”
This incident has involved Nottinghamshire Police, Leicestershire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue.
Diversions are in place.
